Kherrata Tunnels Modernization Project Has Started

24.09.2024

As Özgün İnşaat, we have officially commenced the Kherrata Tunnels Modernization Project located on the strategic RN09 highway between the Bejaia and Sétif provinces of Algeria. Constructed in 1985, the tunnels, with a total length of 6,264 meters, will be upgraded to meet modern standards and redesigned according to European norms. The primary goal of our project is to strengthen the region's transportation infrastructure and enhance the safety of the tunnels.

As part of the tender we won in August 2024, the first phase of the project will involve modernizing a total of 3,105 meters of tunnel sections, including the T1 tunnel (1,500 meters), the southern section of the T2 tunnel (1,195 meters), and the approach tunnel (410 meters). The renovation work will be carried out comprehensively, including electromechanical systems.

The project, which started on September 24, 2024, is expected to be completed within 16 months. This major infrastructure project will significantly contribute to improving the region's strategic transportation routes and enhancing traffic safety.

The Kherrata Tunnels Modernization Project is a great source of pride for Özgün İnşaat and all our stakeholders. We will continue to work diligently with our entire team to successfully realize the project.
